Children's Art Workshop - River Habitats
Research of the River Tame's history conducted as part of Tame Past Present Future was interpreted to many audiences, including young children in the local community and school.
The children arrived to a giant map of their local river painted on sheets of paper on the floor. In the corner were a variety of materials which wildlife might find along the river in order to make their homes and habitats. These included leaves and twigs, but also litter and plastic. They were told about the kinds of animals that lived along the river and about the habitats they preferred. Using printed resources, the children chose an animal and made that animal (images below). They then used the other materials to make a habitat which their animal would like.
